Workflow

How long does it take to screen?

Exact screening time depends on the screening tool that you choose for your parents. Depending on the parents’ literacy level, it can take anywhere from 3 to 15 minutes.

What is the new workflow process?

For the iPad app, parents can self-screen using the iPad while in the waiting room. The score will be automatically calculated. Scores can be printed directly from the iPad and ready for the physicians to review with the parents and scan into the EMR.

Who will perform the screenings?

Parents will perform the screenings, and the doctor can review the results with the parents.

How do I access reimbursement?

The reimbursement CPT codes are 96110 for developmental and autism screenings and 96161 for postpartum depression screenings. At the 18 month well child visit, 96110 can be billed twice for both the developmental and autism screenings.

How many iPads do we need?

We recommend one iPad per receptionist, so that it can be handed to the parents whenever they check in.

Do parents get a copy of the screening?

This decision is up to the physician. Multiple copies of the screening can be printed from the iPad to give to the patient.

Technical

How do I connect to a printer and print?

After parents finish the screening on the iPad, tap the printer button onthe upper right hand corner, find your printer, and hit “print.”

How can I print multiple copies?

Once you choose to print, you will receive the option to print more than one copy.

How do I integrate into our EHR?

After printing the screening results, simply fax or scan the copy into your EHR along with your other documents. If you can sign into your EHR within the iPad, you can also upload the results as a PDF. Custom integration into major EHRs is also an option for an extra fee.

Does every parent have to create a login?

Parents will be asked to enter their child’s birthday and name. The app will adjust for prematurity and suggest age-appropriate screening tools.

How does the office sign in?

There is no sign in required. When the parents are done with screening, they are instructed to return the iPad. You have the option to print out the results directly from the iPad or upload the PDF into your EHR.

Do I have to sign each person out?

Signing in is not required, so no sign out is required. Once the screening is done, the app defaults to a blank starting page.
